School Project

Rinpoche teaching his class in Buddhist philosophy

Rinpoche’s long-term aim from the school project is to preserve the culture, language and the Buddhist way of life of the local people and to give the children the tools to build a better future, so they can help their own people when they grow up.

Pal Sakya Boudha School offer education, housing and medical care to the local kids. Most of the children are from the north of Nepal, but culturally and linguistically they are Tibetan and their thinking is Buddhist. For centuries, the teachings of the Buddha have flourished without interruption in the remote area of Nepal.

Nepal is one of the poorest country in Asia. It has among the lowest literacy rates in Asia. There is little infrastructure, and none in remote mountain villages where people live an ancient lifestyle without roads, electricity, telephones, sanitation, running water, hospitals or schools.

Our immediate priority over the next few years would be to build a proper boarding school for the children and improve the general standard of education. For this more qualified teachers need to be employed for the increasing number of students and the educational materials need to be modernized.
